Shchi (Щи)

Prerequisites

  • gas stove (газовая плита)
  • pan (кастрюля)
  • frying pan (сковорода)

Ingredients

  • potatoes, 5 pieces
  • minced pork (свиной фарш), 300 g
  • bulb onion (луковица), 1 piece
  • carrot, 1 piece
  • tomato juice, 200 ml
  • sorrel (щавель)
  • dill (укроп)
  • refined sunflower oil

Instruction

  1. Wash the ingredients.
  2. Chop up potatoes, onion, carrot, sorrel and dill.
  3. Lightly simmer chopped onion and carrot over low heat in sunflower oil in a frying pan.
  4. Add tomato juice there and continue simmer slowly.
  5. Roll minced pork into balls with a diameter of 1 cm.
  6. Put these balls into boiling water and boil them for 20 minutes.
  7. Put chopped potatoes into water and boil for another 20 minutes.
  8. Put fried onion and carrot there and boil on low heat for 5 minutes.
  9. Add sorrel and dill.
